New belts

The boys earned Yellow belt last week, the testing was an hour long with lots of questions and showing of technique. They had to know 4 'moves' all said in Japanese and do them without help/reminders.

Nicholas showing a self defense move - breakaway with a gr0in kick.

Henry fending off a punch and throwing a solar plexus punch.

It's working again....Sweet Augustine

The boys and I spent a week in St. Augustine doing touristy things..trolley rides, Alligator Farm, Lighthouse, Old city walks, camping at the Anastasia State Park, walking along the beach, fishing, chocolate tour, winery visit and Ripley's.

We really enjoyed ourselves...well maybe not Nico and Ripley's.

Whetstone Chocolate factory tour...nico was watching the spinning machine rotate in circles & twists. Showing how they make hollowed shapes like bunnies & stuff.

The boys watching the machine fill candy molds and then they ate them.

Heading down the spiral staircase at St. Augustine Lighthouse - 219 steps to the top, the boys ran all the way and all the way down.
The last two flights are narrow.
The view from the top...check out mr. bunny hiding in Henry's pocket.

Blue and Gold

Chaya & I setting up our side of the chow hall with blue & gold cub scout balloons with orange (tiger colour) ribbons.

Presenting of the colours - Flag & Pack flag. My boys were responsible for carrying the flags down the hall and placing them in their stands. They worked on this ceremonial bit and the skit for 2 den meetings. We were all so proud of them.

H not paying attention to what is going on ahead that he walked into I. H was looking at Joe who was taking the pictures.

I called up each boy & partner to hand them 'their' tiger badge, I called H's name and stood there for a few seconds waiting for his partner.....duhhhh ITS ME! Henry is behind me while I called his name, I didn't realize he was standing there until he went '''uhhh muddher".

My den of 12 boys (10 in the picture) who earned their Tiger badge (and a few beltloops) last weekend.

Visting the dentist every 6 months

Nico waiting for his turn, he watched a little girl experience her first dentist visit. He was telling her about all the dental tools.

Mr slurpy, the boys favourite toy.

Goofy boy, he had everyone laughing.

H was so relaxed he almost fell asleep.

Pinewood Derby

A few weeks ago our pack held its pinewood derby, the Tigers (the only den) raced against each other for the fast time. Henry had a blast just watching and participating, he placed overall 7 with a top speed of 168.3 mph.

Rows of cars for the whole pack. H's is the first yellow car with red in the middle row.
The boys having fun taking pictures of each other.

Placing their cars ever so gently.

H taking pics of his car as it comes down the track.

And here's the picture.

End of November into December

Friendship party at Nico's school.

My little salad eater, he loves everything green & crisp.

The goofballs hamming it up for the camera.
Henry enjoying his turn at the firehose.

Nico was confident that he could put out the "fire".
Even Joe got into the birthday spirit.

Accountable Kids

I started this program with Henry a few months back. Its a chore chart/behavior chart that Henry is primarily responsible for. As he works through his daily items (brush teeth, breakfast, school, lunch, quiet time, etc) he flips them over. He can earn up to 3 tickets a day which is turned in for a "Bonus Buck". He can lose a tickets too and knows why he lost his ticket without whining or crying. Immediate consequences have helped with the whines/fighting/crap all over the place.

I was able to pick up Chart for Nico this weekend at the MS Crop. He was beyond happy to get his own chore chart & tickets. He chose coral puffy letters & helped to put it together.

I also picked up a "cards & ticket" hanger, it holds extra cards & tickets so they are up above the charts.

One of the fall festival projects - crappy picture. Canvas placemat, crackle paint, Glimmer Mist, Stickles, Quickutz diecuts, stamps, Dabbers, Distressing Inks - very messy & lots of fun.
Picture box with lots of doo-dads.

The last week

Den meeting at a local park, we learned about marbles & how to play.
Nico decided they needed a hopscotch so he drew out some shapes & numbers up to 12.

The closing ceremony of the den meeting .... scout pledge & salute.

Saturday night was Scout night with the Tampa Bay Lightening..cheap tickets for $20 included a hot dog, a soft drink & a cool scout patch.

Henry decided the floor space under the chair was the best spot to sit. He did not like the noise & the height at first. After 30mins or so he settled down and asked for cotton candy.
Only picture of me from the game.
The cool patch.
